Gidyea Venner

Gidyea is a Graduate Consultant – Hydrogeologist and joined AGE in August 2023. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science (Environmental/Earth) with Distinction. Before joining AGE, Gidyea worked as a Laboratory Technician and gained valuable experience in people and client management and leadership. He is currently honing his skills in this field via the Honours research program, where they investigate, monitor, and map the geophysical profile and groundwater chemistry of a series of freshwater springs in the Barcaldine Region.

Currently, in his research role, Gidyea enjoys the process of daily opportunities to increase his understanding of the natural world and the pattern recognition that comes with its gradual accumulation. Upon completion of his Honours this year, he’d love the opportunity to delve deeper into the shallow springs of the Great Artesian Basin particularly those in Edgbaston , as a part of a future PhD program.

At AGE, Gidyea will initially be involved with field investigations, data processing/analysis, and factual reporting. During our interview, Gidyea talked about how he enjoys working outdoors as a geoscientist and within teams across various disciplines to achieve a collective goal.

Gidyea can’t resist visiting the deli and bakery sections at the end of the day. There’s something so satisfying about getting those delicious baked goods or charcuterie at a discounted price.
