About AGE

AGE is a specialist consulting firm that provides advice on hydrogeological issues and groundwater modelling. AGE was founded in 1997 and now consists of over 20 full-time professional staff making us one of Australia’s largest independent, employee-owned consultancies specialising in groundwater sciences. Our team of principal consultants have each worked in the industry for more than 10 years and understand clients’ needs and expectations.

We service our clients in Australia and the Australasian region from our head office in Brisbane, Queensland. We also have offices in Newcastle, New South Wales and Townsville, Queensland. We provide advice on groundwater to a wide client base including the mining, petroleum, infrastructure, agriculture, government, aid and legal sectors.
We assist our clients with government approvals, operational groundwater management, geotechnical issues, water supply, water quality issues, numerical modelling, bore installation and routine monitoring.

Our Values

The management of water resources involves the successful interaction of our clients, governments and communities. At AGE we understand that for these groups to make good decisions regarding water resources they require good data and advice, especially where there is uncertainty. Our mission is to empower our clients, and those that use our work, with information that allows them to make informed decisions on managing groundwater.

We do this by relying on our core values of knowledge, trust and accountability. We manage our accumulated knowledge so it benefits our clients and ensures delivery of quality work. We are accountable to our clients and each other, and these values drive the high standards required to achieve successful outcomes.

Our Experience

We are experienced in:
  • developing groundwater supplies – for towns, villages, mines, irrigation, stock, and domestic purposes;
  • assessing impacts from resource projects on groundwater systems;
  • navigating the regulatory requirements for groundwater management and development;
  • designing dewatering and groundwater control needs around mines and deep excavations;
  • contributing to mine closure and rehabilitation studies;
  • reviewing work of our peers and providing third party opinions;
  • acting as expert witnesses in court;
  • assessing groundwater to assist in the development, management and closure of landfills; and
  • simulating groundwater flow using analytical and numerical models.

AGE employees come from geological science and engineering backgrounds, most with further masters or doctorate level qualifications in hydrogeology or numerical modelling.
Since the inception of AGE in 1997, the company has completed over 1000 consulting projects for a variety of clients across the mining, petroleum, engineering, agriculture, property development and government sectors. This includes major studies for mining projects across Australia and internationally.
