Ali has a PhD in Hydrology, a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering, and a Bachelor of Engineering in water Engineering. Before joining AGE, Ali was a Lecturer at the University of Waikato since 2017 and worked at various consulting companies between 2002 and 2017. From developing integrated surface/subsurface models to playing a key role in pioneering research initiatives and innovative project implementations. Ali is devoted to project management, standards development, and advancing the field. Ali’s outstanding contribution extends to the supervision of numerous PhD, master’s, and honours students.

Ali finds the challenges and uncertainties in Hydrology and Hydrogeology intriguing. The dynamic nature of exploring Earth’s water systems is what he loves most about Hydrogeology.

Outside of work, Ali is a passionate licensed pilot, taking every opportunity to soar amongst the clouds. Below the clouds, Ali enjoys roasting coffee, baking, and being outdoors with his family. To stay focused and energized, Ali swims 10 kilometres per week.
