Ben joined AGE in June 2026 and brings more than 12 years of experience working across water policy and reform, mining and exploration title reform, land-use conflict resolution, and energy policy. His background in government, combined with his technical expertise in hydrogeology, gives him a strong understanding of the regulatory frameworks that shape groundwater and environmental projects, helping clients navigate complex requirements while delivering practical, science-based outcomes.

Drawing on experience in groundwater investigations, environmental impact assessments, conceptual site modelling, acid sulfate soil assessments, and geophysical fieldwork, Ben enjoys solving complex problems by piecing together incomplete information and building a clear understanding of the bigger picture. Having transitioned into hydrogeology as a second career, he brings both technical capability and strategic insight to every project, with a particular focus on delivering advice that stands up to scientific and regulatory scrutiny.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his kids. He and his daughters can often be found at the kitchen table creating geological maps or going on field trips to look at the rocks. Ben also competes in masters’ athletics, where you’ll find him throwing the shot put and discus.

One of his favourite quotes is “I shall use my time” , from Jack London. It is the last line of a poem, that, for him, means be deliberate in what you do.
